Kanye West’s short film ‘Runaway‘  features the story of a Phoenix who falls to earth, falls in love, then returns to the sky. While the narrative is disjointed, and the images at times a bit perplexing (e.g. the Michael Jackson float being led by a marching band), in the end what West delivers is nothing less than concept art. While the film is not revolutionary, it is to be admired for its amazing cinematography (by Kyle Kibbe), unusual choreography by Yemi (who also worked on the amazing SNL performance of ‘Power‘), gorgeous costumes by Phillip Lim and music from the newly released album, ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ (available for download here).
