Riding Scotland

In this film, we follow Danny MacAskill as he goes on an incredible adventure across Scotland. Footage captured along the way led to the creation of this gorgeous film. I love the unique way these extreme tricks were captured. Also, its unlikely soundtrack assists in contributing to the film’s mesmerizing quality. Enjoy!

Intellectual Property Donor

“Why let all of your ideas die with you? Current Copyright law prevents anyone from building upon your creativity for 70 years after your death. Live on in collaboration with others. Make an intellectual property donation. By donating your IP into the public domain you will ‘promote the progress of science and useful arts’ (U.S. [...]

We all want to be young

This short documentary provides the results of recently consumer trend research on Generation Y conducted by BOX1824. It is interesting to see how our generation has come to be defined and valued by society and markerters alike. I also appreciate the footage used in this film, which includes recent clips of some of my favorite [...]

TED Salon, London

The latest TED Salon, held in London on November 2, was organized with the support of friends at frog design, and hosted by Bruno Giussani, the TED European director. This session, themed “Re-framing,”  featured twelve speakers, and attracted the sort of diverse, intellectual audience, one would expect of a TED event. Highlights included Jon Kolko, [...]

This short documentary called “Influencers: How Trends & Creativity Become Contagious,” is a well-produced look into what defines an ‘influencer’ and how their influence can lead to cultural movements. A lot of the ideas are borrowed from literature related to social media, such as Malcolm Gladwell’s The Tipping Point or Amy Shuen’s Web Strategy 2.0, [...]

What a concept

I ran into a girl on the metro today who had what I can only describe as a bag of fun. She was showing friends her purchases from the SAM concept store in Paris, which I will now add to my list of locations to go in search of awesome, non-gimmicky xmas presents for family, [...]

Save a word

The Oxford English dictionary has launched a great interactive site whose purpose is to inspire readers to adopt a word from the English language which is going extinct due to lack of daily use.  Check out the site to browse these dying words and put em to use! I used the random search generator, which [...]

Dead drops

“‘Dead Drops’ is an anonymous, offline, peer to peer file-sharing network in public space. I am ‘injecting’ USB flash drives into walls, buildings and curbs accessable to anybody in public space. You are invited to go to these places (so far 5 in NYC) to drop or find files on a dead drop. Plug your [...]

Book shelf porn

New obsession: book shelf porn. These photos are amazing. Especially love the one of Lagerfeld’s library, which itself looks like an open book. “Karl Lagerfeld’s books cover every wall of his studio from the ground, up two stories, to the skylights. Plus he owns the bookstore that is right next door.” – Todd Selby (The [...]

My Princess Boy

This children’s book, written by Cheryl Kilodavis, was inspired by the growing pains her family experienced while raising a “FABULOUS!” son. Check out the video of their touching TV interview  after the jump. The world would be such an amazing place if parents were this accepting and nurturing! What an inspiration.

Last walk around mirror lake

This video may have a simple-enough concept, but it leaves me mesmerized, and itching to go skydiving again. Doesn’t hurt that the song is a gorgeous Boards of Canada remix of Boom Bip.
